“We will not build municipal housing and a social complex in the area. We made this decision together with representatives of the Strumsko district after discussing all the arguments. The people of the neighborhood need green spaces, places for recreation and sports, and above all, playgrounds.
Therefore, my team and I will work to build a new modern park in the neighborhood with underground parking underneath. We will apply for funding under the European program “Development of the Regions”. If the project is approved, the parking lot will ease traffic, free up space and allow us to turn “brown spots” into pleasant inter-block spaces. In addition, during the sustainability period, parking will be free for citizens – this is the condition of the program, the mayor of Blagoevgrad Metodi Baikushev announced.
“The residents of one of the largest neighborhoods of Blagoevgrad deserve to have better conditions and a better urban environment.
Blagoevgrad Municipality will look for other suitable sites for buildings for social services and municipal housing, which are of great importance for vulnerable groups and disadvantaged people.
