The Burgas island of St. Anastasia invites the residents and guests of the city to an exhibition with icons by Toshko Vachev and Janeta Ruseva. The exposition is taking place in connection with the celebration of 10 years since the development of the island and the welcoming of its first tourists, reports the press center of the Municipality of Burgas, which owns the island. The exhibition will be opened on May 1. It will be located in the vestibule of the island chapel, where it will remain until the end of the summer season. The icon painter Toshko Vachev is the only Burgasian born in one of the symbols of the city – the Faropazacha Tower, built in 1903, which in the past was the central entrance to the port of Burgas, the announcement also states. The creative path of the artist began 28 years ago, during which Vachev created over 1000 icons, some of which were donated to various causes. Janeta Ruseva is a graduate of a school of batik, and between 2012 and 2015 she studied “Icon painting and mural painting” at the school of Byzantine icon painting and mural painting in Athens. He is a member of “UNESCO-Athens for Art and Culture”, as well as the Society of Burgas Artists and the Bulgarian Iconographic Association. It was placed by the “Friends of the Sea” club on the seabed at a depth of about 15 meters and about 400 meters northeast of the island of St. Anastasia. The attraction is aimed at diving enthusiasts with appropriate equipment. BTA reminds that the island of St. Anastasia is owned by the municipality of Burgas and was restored under the Operational Program “Regional Development 2007-2013”: “Cultural – historical heritage of the island of St. Anastasia and the city of Burgas – an attractive and competitive tourist destination”. first welcomed tourists in the summer of 2014.
