The big challenge falls on the sectional election commissionswhich they will have to conduct two separate choices and in the presence of two separate electoral lists. This is so because there is a special requirement for sitting when voting in the elections for members of the European Parliament from the Republic of Bulgaria.

He stated this before Radio Plovdiv the chairman of the 16th RIC Plovdiv – city Kaloyan Sukhorukov.

He emphasized that his colleagues from the sectional committees they will have to be quite careful. Therefore, during training, they will be given attention to exactly what to do and will receive instructions and advice on how not to make mistakes, so that there is no confusion, yes there are no grievances and mistakes on the part of voters and may the election day pass peacefully.

In each of the two voter lists, it will be indicated which voter has the right to vote and who does not. And for those who will vote for the European Parliament, the requirement is to have settlement as of March 9, 2024.

Needs a little more attention. It’s not as difficult as attention is neededso that things don’t go wrong, believes Kaloyan Sukhorukov.

The 2 in 1 election machine voting:

It is not clear whether the CEC will not decide to vote with two separate sets of cards. Because it is not proper for a member of the Sectional Commission to interfere and check whether the voter has the right to vote for both elections – for the Bulgarian and for the European Parliament. These are technical details that are not yet clear, noted the chairman of the 16th RIC Plovdiv – city.

For RIC, it makes almost no difference whether the elections are 2 in 1 or independentsaid Sukhorukov.

He pointed out that so far there has been no problem in mixed elections in Plovdiv – no queues have formed for voting.

Composition of Section Committees

The members of the SECs are nominated by the political parties. Therefore, it depends on them whether the mentioned people can do the job professionally.

The increase in remuneration did not affect the quality of the work of the members of the sectional commissions, Sukhorukov explained.

While they are paid an additional fee for attending the training, most Section Committee members come. But there are a number of cases where they come, register for the training and leave.

Oresponsibility rests with the parties to offer people who have an objective opportunity to cope with the tasks, lawyer Sukhorukov is categorical.

There are people who give up at the last minute. Others are replaced by the parties themselves. Substitutions are not much of a problem as long as they are done before training. And it is usually in the week before the vote. It is good not to make mass replacements a day or two before the elections.

Today at 6 p.m. is the first meeting of the 16th RIC. All principled decisions will be taken so that the commission itself can work. Working groups will be formed. The registration of candidate lists is until May 7. From a purely organizational point of view, there is nothing unusual, a completely standard procedure for the preparation of elections.

I don’t think there will be any problem with the organization. We are going to make itsaid the chairman of the 16th RIC Plovdiv – city.

Kaloyan Sukhorukov is a lawyer and has over 10 years of experience in the organization and reporting of election results.
