World leaders, business experts and entrepreneurs discussed today in the Boyana residence the most current challenges of the global and regional economy within the framework of the Vienna Economic Forum. The event is organized twice a year, and this year the host of the postponed meeting is Bulgaria. Its purpose is to promote regional cooperation.

In a congratulatory address to the participants, Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev pointed out that the initiative is a bridge between the economy and politics, and our country is proof of stability and security in the region. “We will continue to work actively with our neighbors to develop transport, energy and digital connections,” he added.

According to the prime minister, the forum not only provides support for countries that seek to join the EU and the Euro-Atlantic community, but is also a place to identify new markets and investments in joint projects and achieve common goals at the state and business level.

He emphasized that the full accession of Bulgaria to the Schengen area will have a significant contribution and will have a positive effect on the provision of services, supplies of goods and the mobility of workers in cross-border regions, not only for Bulgaria, but also for a number of other countries. As another key priority, Glavchev defined Bulgaria’s full membership in the OECD to promote economic development and strengthen regional stability.

In his speech, the Minister of Economy and Industry Petko Nikolov stated that Eastern Europe offers a number of opportunities for economic growth and Bulgaria will be the basis of the future development of the region.
