On April 2024, the Turkish citizen, who was driving a cargo combination with Turkish registration numbers, appeared at the customs point of the Kalotina border crossing in the route for outgoing cargo vehicles.

It was established that he had transported across the country’s border from the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of Bulgaria a high-risk narcotic substance – cocaine, with a net weight of about 6 kg, distributed in two packages hidden in a specially built hiding place in the semi-trailer.

By decree of the supervising prosecutor, the Turkish citizen B.K. was brought in as an accused, who was detained for a period of up to 72 hours under the Criminal Procedure Code.

A request will be submitted to the District Court in Sofia for the most severe remand measure “detention in custody” in relation to the accused person.

The approximate value of the narcotic substance found is about BGN 1,500,000.
