His appearance (of acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev – note ed.) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can be equated with the chairman of the BFS (currently Georgi Ivanov-Gonzo – note ed.) managing the Audit Chamber. You need to have competence in this area to be able to manage it. If a person is aware of his competences, he would not get caught unless he is under pressure from something completely beyond his understanding.” This was commented by the former foreign minister in the government of Sergey Stanishev Ivaylo Kalfin to BNR.

Today, President Rumen Radev issued a decree on the proposed changes in the composition of Dimitar Glavchev’s interim government. Glavchev will now also be foreign minister. He was elected head of the Audit Office at the end of July 2023 and elected caretaker prime minister under the new rules at the end of March.

According to Kalfin, this is a mockery of the entire diplomatic service. Asked why the department is becoming a bone of contention already in the second cabinet, Kalfin stated: “There is not a single argument for the Foreign Ministry to be something controversial, because there are no disputes on foreign policy and there is consensus in the country on her. It’s obvious that the interests are somewhere else and Externally is being used as a cover-up,” he suspects.
