Seventh-grader Martin Parvanov from “Vasil Levski” Primary School (OU) in Pleven was ranked first in the national round of the Geography and Economics Olympiad in his age group. This was reported to BTA by Tanya Toneva, director of the educational institution.
The boy successfully coped with a preliminary written exam with 15 competitive problems with structured and free response, for which he had 60 minutes, as well as with a multimedia test with 15 competitive problems with a maximum of 15 minutes to work. The competitive tasks for the national round are determined on the entire geography and economics curriculum for the 7th grade, as well as on the educational content of the previous grades, added Toneva. The written works of all participants are anonymous.
A total of 33 seventh graders were admitted to the national round. Some districts were represented by two students each, and from Sofia there were six, Toneva also said. Martin Parvanov has collected a total of 117 points and thus ranked first.
The director of “Vasil Levski” Elementary School emphasized that Martin is supported by geography teacher Margarita Rashkova.
“Our school tolerates and supports children’s participation in competitions, Olympiads and contests for the development of their talents. We have created eleven interest groups to develop the skills, talents and knowledge of our students,” added Toneva.
