The policeman who caused a minor traffic accident in Veliko Tarnovo with 2.31 percent alcohol in his blood has not yet been charged. The reason is that the defender authorized by him is absent from the country, announced the spokesman of the Veliko Tarnovo District Prosecutor’s Office, Totko Totev. According to him, he has a “signature” measure and there is no information whether he has been released from work.

“It is about to present the decree to attract an accused, to interrogate the person and according to the information received from these actions, the supervising prosecutor will decide what other actions will be carried out,” explained prosecutor Totev.

Expertises were appointed on the case, many witnesses were questioned. “After the person is interrogated and possibly charged, he can enter into an agreement, a summary trial can be used, and in the event that the person is not found guilty – an indictment can be filed,” added the spokesperson of the District Prosecutor’s Office .

For driving with more than 1.2 parts per million of alcohol in the blood, the law provides from 1 to 3 years of imprisonment, a fine, deprivation of the right to drive a motor vehicle and confiscation of the car according to Art. 343, para. 5 of the Criminal Code.
