--

Two more voluntary formations will assist people in disasters in the municipality of Sliven, the municipal press center announced. The new units are called “Cyclone” and “Whirlwind”, and with them the voluntary formations in the municipality become four in total.
Residents from Kermen, which is the center of the formation, as well as from the nearby villages of Nikolaevo and Mladovo, are registered in “Ziklon”. “Vihar” will be positioned in Gavrailovo. It includes volunteers from the villages of Strupets, Seliminovo and Binkos.
The new groups will be trained according to a program approved by the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The classes will cover preparation for actions in crisis situations, acquisition of first aid skills and legal knowledge.
At the end of last week, the mayor Stefan Radev handed the volunteers the protective equipment and the volunteer’s identification card. Their clothing is made according to the standards for ensuring the protection of volunteers during emergency situations – floods, snowstorms, earthquakes, etc.
The other two voluntary formations in the municipality are “The Villages” centered in the village of Trapoklovo and “Zhelezni vrata” centered in Stara Reka for the area of mountain villages. “Iron Gate” has a fire-fighting building and a specialized vehicle. In Kermen, the Municipality plans to renovate the former fire station, and a specialized vehicle will be provided.
The municipality of Sliven was among the first in the country where voluntary formations were created. The volunteers in Slivensko also help in other parts of the country. In September 2022, representatives of “Gramads” participated in the clearing of the flooded village of Bogdan in Karlovy Vary.
