Yellow, red, blue, green, pink balloons flew today in the sky above the 11th OU “Hristo Botev” Blagoevgrad. In this way, the students celebrated the International Earth Day – April 22. This year, the events are going under the motto “A world without plastic”.

The 11th elementary school “Hristo Botev” is working on the “Enter the Green Circle” project for the large-scale introduction of environmental education under the “Ecoschools” program.

“Together today we will join the International Network of Partners of 174 countries and 12,000 organizations celebrating this day. Today’s celebration is a successful launch for the Global Days of Action program associated with the Green Circle Award-winning eco-school program. This year we are participants in this wonderful project to obtain a Green Flag. Environmental education has a beginning but no end. Our common goal is one, together students, teachers, parents, partners – to protect our planet Earth without polluting it, so that it is clean for us and for the generations after us,” said Daniela Mavrevska, senior elementary teacher.

The students Anton, Emilian, Petar and Bozhidar shared that they try to protect nature by recycling plastic, glass, paper and metal, collecting and disposing of waste in the designated places.

After the emotional celebration in the school yard, a talk on “Bioeconomy and biocycles” was held in one of the halls with lecturer Vasilka Topchieva from RIOSV. / BNR
