The policeman with 2.31 percent alcohol in his blood, who caused an accident and a scandal in Veliko Tarnovo, has not yet been charged. The reason is that the defender authorized by him is outside the country. This was announced by the spokesperson of the District Prosecutor’s Office, prosecutor Totko Totev.

“The decree to bring an accused is to be presented, and the person to be interrogated in this capacity, and according to the information obtained from these actions, the supervising prosecutor will consider what else should be done,” said prosecutor Totev.

In the case, a number of expert examinations were appointed, and many witnesses were questioned. At the moment, the law enforcement officer is under suspension and there is no official information as to whether he has been suspended from work.

“After he is brought in as a defendant and questioned, an agreement can possibly be concluded, a summary trial can be carried out. Or if he pleads not guilty, an indictment will be filed. The law provides from 1 to 3 years of imprisonment, a fine and the revocation of a driver’s license. The car will also be confiscated, as it is the personal property of the law enforcement officer,” informed prosecutor Totev.
