Plovdiv residents and guests of the city will take a walk down memory lane and celebrate the long creative journey of two prominent artists. Two important anniversaries will be celebrated with the jubilee retrospective painting exhibition “Inspirations from Chance” – the 100th anniversary of the birth of the artist Kosta Pavlov and the 70th anniversary of his son – the artist Todor Pavlov. The exhibition will be opened on April 29, Monday, from 6 p.m. :00 at the House of Culture “Boris Hristov”. The exhibition and the authors will be presented by Vihra Grigorova. The opening will be accompanied by a musical program with piano accompaniment by Irene Kapelovska.

Kosta Pavlov was born on 12/05/1924 in the village of Gaitaninovo, Gotse Delchevsko, and his creative path is closely connected with Plovdiv. His school and youth years were difficult, strenuous, imbued with a lot of love for work, music, painting, which remained a constant companion in his life’s journey. The love for his native Pirin region, knowledge of nature, Bulgarian traditions, holidays, customs, as well as historical themes are vividly reflected in his picturesque canvases. His works show the professional maturity of an original Plovdiv artist who created poetic paintings – folk, understandable for every Bulgarian. He is an active participant in the exhibitions of the Plovdiv group of artists and is a member of the SBH.

Todor Pavlov was born on 07/07/1953 in Sofia, but in 1955 his family moved to live in Plovdiv. From 1961-1968 he attended painting courses at the Pioneer House, under the guidance of the Plovdiv artist Ivan Popovski.

In May 1968, he had his first solo children’s exhibition at the “Stefan Kiradzhiev” Trade Union House of Culture today – DK “Boris Hristov”. In 1970-1973 he graduated from the Art High School in Kazanlak. Since 1980, he lives with his family in Leipzig, where he attends drawing courses at the Academy of Arts, as well as the studio of the rector, Prof. Werner Tübke. Since 1989 he lives in Neuhausen near Stuttgart. He has solo exhibitions in Germany, France, Austria and Bulgaria.
