More than a hundred students from AEG “Geo Milev” attended today, 22.04.2024, another meeting of the series of lectures on the Educational Program of the Supreme Court of Justice and the Ministry of Education and Culture “Judicial Power – Informed Choice and Civil Trust. Open courts and prosecutor’s offices”.

The guest speaker for the tenth graders was judge Ivaylo Yosifov, who presented to the students the structure of the judicial system and the functions of the judiciary, the competence of the administrative courts and the peculiarities of administrative justice. The powers of general and specialized courts were commented on.

Part of the topics that Judge Ivaylo Yosifov commented on to the students were related to the structure of the EU bodies, the similarities and differences in the powers of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg and the EU Court in Luxembourg.

During the meeting, issues related to the exercise of active voting rights and whether it should be mandatory were discussed. Arguments were made for and against the idea of ​​lowering the voting age to 16.

At the end of the initiative, for the needs of the school, the court provided a donation to the high school of educational, artistic and motivational literature, 30 pieces. printed editions of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria, as well as advertising brochures and leaflets for the Educational Program, provided by the Supreme Judicial Council.

The meetings of the magistrates for the Educational Program will continue until the end of the second academic term.
