Over 300 amateur and professional runners competed in the second edition of the 5K Beroe Road Race in Stara Zagora. The route started from “Artillery” Park and passed through one of the main and flat boulevards of the city, “Slavyanski” Blvd. The competition gave all participants the opportunity to charge themselves with a lot of positive emotions and challenge themselves for a really fast 5 km run.

Two-time Olympic medalist and the first Bulgarian woman with a world record in athletics Yordanka Blagoeva started the 5K Beroe Road Race. The champion in the second edition and with a course record was Ivo Balabanov 14:27 minutes, silver medal went to Albert Tonui from Kenya (14:33), bronze medalist was Hristiyan Stoyanov (14:56).

The women’s champion was Devora Avramova 16:22 minutes, followed by Marinela Nineva (16:31), third was the Kenyan Vitaline Kibil (17:15).

For the second time, a citywide run for children at 600 meters was also held. The start of it was given by the national record holder of 1,500, 2,000, 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000 meters, who participated in two Olympiads, Evgeni Ignatov. The best Bulgarian middle and long distance runner of all time.

Denitsa Ivanova won first place for the girls, followed by Nikol Mincheva, and Ralitsa Miteva was third. Among the boys, Kiril Khrelkov became the champion, his runner-up was Marin Manolov, followed by Petar Cordov.

Over 600 children had applied for participation in the cross-country race. Each of them received a participation medal.
