The defendant for the burning of 8 cars in the village of Yagodovo near Plovdiv, Georgi Shikov, refused to give explanations on the case and did not comment on whether he was guilty during the pre-trial proceedings. The cars burned on March 24, 2021, and an attempt to start the case was made today, but without success. One of the owners of the burned cars – Maria Peeva, had not read the materials and the court gave her the opportunity to do so. So the trial was adjourned until May 15.

According to the prosecutor’s office, around midnight on that date, Georgi Shikov decided to set fire to the cars of the owner of a taxi company, Mariyan Kirov, who had a base in Jagodovo. Shikov went to the parking lot and ignited the tires of one of the cars there, and when the fire grew, he disappeared. The fire spread to 7 other cars and the damage was over BGN 53,000. Shekov was captured on the recordings of the cameras in the area.

It is assumed that the cause of the conflict between him and Kirov is a lost wallet with BGN 600 in fees to the businessman. At that time, Shikov was working as a security guard, now he is a car mechanic.
