Scandal: The mayor and the chairman of the Municipal Council in Maritsa municipality vote for 5-bonus bonuses for good work

A scandalous proposal was passed at a meeting of the Standing Committee on Budget and Finance of the Municipal Council of Maritsa Municipality. A proposal by the mayor of the municipality, Dimitar Ivanov, has been submitted to the local parliament for consideration, in which he proposes that the elders grant him, the chairperson of the Municipal Council, Violeta Hristodulova, and 19 other mayors of populated areas from the municipality financial bonuses for “achieved good results, demonstrated useful initiative and proven contribution to improving the activities of the municipality”.

Dimitar Ivanov offers for himself the sum of BGN 5,820, for Hristodulova – BGN 5,238, and for the mayors of the villages – from BGN 2,100 to BGN 2,300 per person. In Mayor Ivanov’s report to the municipal councilors, it is said that the bonuses in question are for the past period from 01.01.2024 to 03.31.2024. Councilors must vote to include the additional pay on the April 2024 payroll. The item in question, which has already been approved by the standing committee, is included as proposal number 47 – “Additional remuneration of the chairman of the Municipal Council, the mayor of a municipality and mayors of town halls” and must be voted on at the upcoming municipal session of Maritza on Thursday , on April 25.
