Regional governor Zahari Sirakov opened the first meeting of RIC-Smolyan

Regional Governor Zahari Sirakov opened the first meeting of the District Election Commission in the Twenty-second electoral district – Smolyanski, for the elections for members of the European Parliament from the Republic of Bulgaria and for people’s representatives on June 9, 2024, which was appointed by Decision No. 3113 of the CEC from April 19, 2024. He entrusted the seal to the chair Tanya Svetlinova and wished the Commission a successful and trouble-free work. Sirakov said that RIC-Smolyan can count on the full cooperation of the Smolyan Regional Administration for technical support and organization, with the aim of holding fair and transparent elections in the region, the Smolyan Regional Administration reported.

On April 13, 2024, the regional governor held consultations on the composition of RIC-Smolyan with authorized representatives of all parliamentary parties and coalitions. All the requirements of the Electoral Code for conducting the consultations were met, the participating parties and coalitions made proposals for the composition of the RIC, which contain the required documents according to Art. 60, para. 3 and 4 IC.

The regional election commission – Smolyan assumed its powers on April 20, 2024.
