“The leak itself violates investigative secrecy. At the moment we have not self-reported about it, personally I think that it will be very difficult to understand how this information was leaked”, Kirilova explained to BBC about the leaked photos of the former Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Zhivko Kotsev .

The role of the former general secretary Zhivko Kotsev in the organized criminal group and whether there is one at all remains to be clarified. He is currently facing charges for exactly that. Kirilova said that she had known Kotsev since 1994.

According to her, it cannot be denied that he has a good career. “From the debriefing that’s leaked, it’s clear that he did it out of loyalty to his former superiors and current friends – that’s what I saw. At this stage, there is clarity, but there is no way to share it, because Mr. Kotsev should not learn about it from the media,” she added.
