Pupils from two tenth grades from PGSAG “Angel Popov” visited Ecomuseum Ruse, where they held open lessons in geography and economics from section 2 “Natural geographical areas”, sub-topic Danube Plain and in biology on the topic of biodiversity along the Danube. The lessons were conducted by teachers Galina Asenova, senior teacher of geography and economics, and Svetla Grozeva, senior teacher of biology and health education, and museum specialists at “Ecomusei with an aquarium” – Ruse. The visit was on Earth Day under the National Program “Bulgaria – Educational Routes”, module “Cultural and Scientific Institutions as an Educational Environment”.

By visiting the Eco-Museum, the students got acquainted with the prehistory of the Danube region, learned about the biodiversity along the Danube and the Ruse Quarry, and discovered the natural attractions around Ruse. On Earth Day, they also observed human intervention and the changes it causes in nature and the animal world.

It was of great importance for the students of the construction and architecture and architectural restoration majors that they had the opportunity to examine the architecture in the central part of the city of Ruse, which is in the baroque and rococo style from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.

The leaders of the group provided the students with useful information about the population, features and history of Ruse. On the way to Veliko Tarnovo, they also held an entertaining quiz in which the tenth graders actively participated and showed that learning through experience leads to lasting knowledge.

After the group’s return, there is another interesting task ahead. They will prepare a map of the Danube moisture-loving ecosystems, their flora, fauna and their conservation with the help of the GIS geodetic system, they will prepare multimedia presentations presenting the coexistence of man with nature, the diversity of animal species and the protected areas along the Danube River, and interactive games , related to the flora and fauna along the Danube river valley. They will be presented in a school representative performance, as a final product of the realized visit to the museum.
