The exhibition “Architectural heritage of Vidin and the region” opens in Vidin. The author of the exhibition is architect Belin Mollov.
The exhibition includes 45 paintings that depict impressive buildings such as the Synagogue, the Saint Dimitar Cathedral, the Osman Pazvantooglu Mosque, Stambol Kapia, Baba Vida, the churches in Dimovo, in Novo Selo and others.
The paintings are arranged in a special way, so architect Mollov draws a parallel between similar buildings in different cities. For example, the Cathedrals in Vidin “St. Dimitar”, “Assumption” in Varna and “Alexander Nevsky” in Sofia are arranged next to each other, and under each picture are indicated details about the construction, the architects, the donors.
The idea is for young people to get to know the historical data about the buildings in detail, said architect Belin Mollov:
“At the center of the exhibition will be the Synagogue resurrected in Jules Pasquin. Next to it is the Burgas Synagogue, currently a gallery, and next to it is the Sofia Synagogue… In Ruse there is Dom Kaneti… Vidin has great architectural wealth… I will show not only from Vidin, but also the church in Novo Selo, which is like the Russian ones, Castra Martis, in Belogradchik rocks, Ruzhintsi bridge… I have been painting these paintings since I can remember and I have been doing exhibitions for a long time… Istanbul Kapia impresses me the most, I made a collage… An analogy is also the old bathroom, I have an idea to make a “Mineral baths” collection, the author pointed out.
Architect Belin Mollov and Vidin resident Racho Milanov have an idea to make a book about the architectural heritage of Vidin with reproductions of the buildings and relevant information for each one of them.
The exhibition is carried out with the help of the Jules Paskin Cultural Center and with the cooperation of the Vidin municipality.
