The Executive Agency “Medical Supervision” is checking whether there was extraordinary violence against a 104-year-old patient in the hospital in Vidin.

The investigation is in connection with broadcast reports in the media with similar claims.

It starts today – April 23, and the Minister of Health and the public will be informed of the results after its completion.

Earlier today, relatives of the elderly woman told Nova TV that she was tied by the limbs while receiving treatment in the hospital in Vidin. They themselves were not allowed to visit during her stay in the medical facility.

After the woman’s discharge her relatives saw bruises on her body. The patient was admitted unaccompanied to the internal medicine department on April 17. Her relatives only received information about her condition, as there were no sightings.

The deputy director of the hospital Dr. Bogdan Tomov explained that at times the patient was psychomotor agitatedwhich is why temporary physical restraint measures have been taken to allow treatment to take place.

He argued that the skin changes claimed to be the result of ligatures did not correspond to the localization of the sites that were the subject of treatment. According to him, this is most likely due to skin and trophic changes associated with severe accompanying diseases.

The patient was treated according to medical standards and the charges are unfoundedthe medic was emphatic.
