The motto of this year’s Gabrovo carnival is in English – “Make CARNIVAL, not war”. This was announced by the Gabrovo Municipality and spread information about the carnival program.
Its highlights, as presented by the organizers, are:
- The Balkan sensation Dolapdere Big Gang arrive in Bulgaria specifically for the event;
- The golden voice of Bulgaria – Vasil Petrov will transport us into the magic of music with the journey “The Best of Vassil Petrov”;
- The cult moth group will close the event with a free concert;
The festival of humor and satire, known for its unique atmosphere and variety, will be held from May 17-19 and, according to the organizers, promises unforgettable moments for all fans of culture and entertainment.
The festival program starts at Gabrovo Day – May 17 with numerous cultural events during the day, and in the evening the city center will become a stage for the golden voice of Bulgaria, Vasil Petrov, who will take us into the magic of Bulgarian music with the journey “The Best of Vassil Petrov”, performing his most loved songs in the company of virtuoso musicians – Zhivko Petrov (piano), Radoslav Slavchev – Riverman (bass) and Dimitar Semov (drums). Immediately after that, we will abruptly change the rhythm with RDMK group and their iconic hits, promising an unforgettable musical experience.
IN the day of the carnival, May 18the guests of the city will have fun with the colorful carnival procession, when during the day about 80 carnival paintings and 25 models will come to life on the central streets of the city, carrying a message of peace and humor, and in the evening a spectacular concert will be held on Vazrazhdane Square. The event will be opened by the Romanian project, FolkustiX, combining folk motifs with a modern sound; the beloved Bulgarian rapper 100 kilos it will charge us with energy and emotions; the sensation from Turkey Dolapdere Big Gang will present world famous hits with a mix of Balkan beats, funk and jazz, a DJ MC Kamen will end the evening with a DJ set.
The post-carnival day – May 19 will be closed with a concert by the winners of 4 BG Radio awards moth group, who will announce the city with original music combining rock, pop and alternative elements.
In addition to musical performances, the Festival of Humor and Satire also offers a number of other entertainment and initiatives:
- “Paint Gabrovo” – an initiative involving children from Gabrovo schools who will decorate the town square.
- A concert of popular and jazz music with the Gabrovo Orchestra.
- Exhibition of Gabrovo artists, dedicated to the City Festival
- National Carnival Review of Cats – Rosemary Casasova on May 18.
- Children’s procession “Carnival Street of Miracles” and children’s mini carnival.
- For gourmets and connoisseurs of old recipes – Feast of the Shtirnik
- Cartoonists in the park
- Post-carnival party in etheric
- Summer theater for everyone
- Creative art studios, open days in cultural institutions, night of museums
Organizers from Gabrovo Municipality call on the city to become the capital of peace during the country’s oldest and most lavish carnival, using its rich tradition of humor and satire.
