The traffic police detected a total of 880 violations of the speed regimes in the Vidin region during the week-long operation “Speed”, implemented by Roadpol, a reporter told “Fox”. Of these, 296 are violations of the speed limit regulations, registered in populated areas, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Vidin specifies. The press center of the ODMVR-Vidin adds that the checks are carried out at predetermined control points, according to the time and place with the intensity of the traffic and the presence of prerequisites for driving a motor vehicle at an excessive speed. During the “24-hour marathon – Speed”, held from 00:00 to 23:59 on April 19, at six control points traffic police detected 457 violations of speed regimes. This means that the police registered an average of 19 per hour speed violations, or at each of the six controls in 24 hours, an average of 76 violations were detected.

The main purpose of the nationwide operation “Speed” is to focus the attention of drivers and the public on the driving of motor vehicles with excessive speed, which is also one of the main causes of serious road transport accidents with victims and injuries. The operation is held twice a year , in April and August, and is part of the calendar of the European Road Police Service Network – Roadpol.
