“Neither the sentence nor the compensation will bring Harriet back to her family,” said the lawyer for the murdered woman’s family.

“It is a fact that there is a decision of the Sofia Court of Appeal, which confirms the original sentence of the Sofia City Court – both in the criminal and the civil part, according to the compensations awarded to the family of the deceased Harriet. Of course, this decision can be appealed to the Supreme Court of Cassation – something I think the colleagues defending Semerdzhiev will do. I believe that the sentence is fair, but these 20 years or BGN 700-800,000 compensation will not bring Harriet back to her family”. Plamen Dimitrov, lawyer for the family of the girl killed in the accident on Cherni Vrah Blvd. in July 2022, stated this on the air of “Hello, Bulgaria”.

Semerdzhiev was sentenced to 2 years in prison and a BGN 139 fine for his fake license

According to the experts in the case, at the time of the accident, Semerdzhiev was driving at over 160 km/h. He kills two young women on the spot – Harriet and Christina.

Semerdzhiev was found guilty of five charges. In addition to causing the crash, he was charged with driving under the influence of amphetamine and methamphetamine, using a false driver’s license, driving a vehicle with false license plates, and possession of methamphetamine.
