The regional governor of Sofia region and the mayors of three municipalities from the region discussed the concept of integrated territorial investments

The district governor of the Sofia region, Yulian Lekov, held meetings and public discussions with the mayors, municipal authorities and the public from the municipalities of Dolna Banya, Kostenets and Ikhtiman. This was announced on the website of the District Administration of Sofia Region.
The three municipalities are partners of the regional administration in the application process and implementation of the Concept for Integrated Territorial Investments (ITI) in the region and the activities to ensure integrated development of the Sofia region. The other partners are the Road Infrastructure Agency (API) and the National Youth Network Association. The total value of the projects for the activities in the three municipalities is over BGN 118 million, applying for co-financing from the European Union under the “Regional Development” and “Environment” programs.
Deputy regional governor Ivan Dimitrov and Nikolina Chapanova, director of “Implementation of projects under OPRD 2014-2020 and EU territorial cooperation programs” at the Road Infrastructure Agency took part in the public discussions.
The regional governor has informed the mayors of Dolna Banya and Ikhtiman Vladimir Jambazov and Kaloyan Iliev, the deputy mayor of Kostenets Margarita Mincheva, as well as the general public, that the first stage of approving the activities and projects under KITI has already passed successfully. “However, we still have concrete steps ahead of us until the final completion of the procedures and the actual start of the activities,” explained Lekov.
One of the key KITI activities for the region of Dolna Banya, Kostenets and Ikhtiman, which the regional governor singled out, is the major repair of the I-8 road (Kalotina-Sofia-Plovdiv) on the territory of the Sofia region. The total value of investments for the rehabilitation and renovation of the road exceeds BGN 110 million, and the contractor will be API.
This section of the first-class road I-8 is the main transport connection with the Trakia highway, and from there with Sofia, Plovdiv and Burgas in the settlements of the municipalities of Elin Pelin, Ihtiman and Kostenets, and through the II-82 that reaches it and for those from the municipality of Dolna bath and the resort complex Borovets.
Tomorrow (April 24), the concept of integrated territorial investments “Ensuring integrated development of the Sofia region” will be discussed in three public discussions. The discussions will be held on the territory of the municipalities of Zlatitsa, Etropole and Botevgrad.
