In Plovdiv, the late antique building “Irini” was officially opened. The object is once again in the hands of the Plovdiv municipality, after 20 years of management by a concessionaire.
A late antique building “Irini” and a part of an intersection of the ancient city is located in the “Archaeological” underpass, which becomes even more attractive for tourists. “Irini” is included in the serial mosaic heritage site and is part of a future cultural route related to the ancient mosaics, which will start precisely from this building.
In the show “The colors of Plovdiv” by Radio “Focus” today we will recall the history of this archaeological site, when it was discovered and what can be seen in it now, as well as which part of the tourist route “Irini” becomes. Prof. Dr. Elena Kantareva, director of OI “Ancient Plovdiv”, who led the restoration of the mosaics in the building in 2003-2004, will tell us about all this.
We will also tell you about a noble initiative in which the development of children without parental care is promoted through art. The initiative is of the “Magnifique” Dance Studio in Plovdiv. You will find out the details from the head of the dance studio and initiator Nora Marshaha.
We will also inform you about some cultural events that you can visit in Plovdiv this week.
