DPS-Blagoevgrad nominates Elena Yoncheva for MEP from its civil quota. Yoncheva completes her current mandate in the EP as a representative of the BSP. It is part of the civil quota of the left.
The appearance of Yoncheva in the lists of the DPS caused sharp reactions on the part of the socialists. The decision was criticized by the BSP leader.

This gives an explanation for our terminated relationship with Elena Yoncheva long before yesterday. I am surprised by the arrogance of her nomination to become public, to become pompous, but I am not surprised by the fact”, said Cornelia Ninova categorically.

Comments on the nomination of Elena Yoncheva also came from Brussels.
“She was nominated already on Monday by one of our main party organizations – the one in Blagoevgrad. It is a tradition of the DPS to have on our lists party representatives who have proven their loyalty, authority and work over the years, as well as to respect the choice of our members and sympathizers when we talk about a wider circle of people, that is, a civil quota. Mrs. Yoncheva was recognized at our regional meeting as one of the possible candidates of the DPS in the lists of the upcoming European elections. This is not some special news for us. We have such a tradition. Over the years, many authoritative people from the civil quota have been included in the DPS lists. I will not hide the fact that for years we have worked with her to strengthen the authority of Bulgaria. Including on an important topic such as the accession of our country to the Schengen area”, said MEP Ilhan Kyuchuk.
“I am satisfied that the work of Elena and my other colleagues is appreciated – even outside the framework of their own political family”, emphasized MEP Petar Vitanov.
