Nearly 150 participants from 15 schools from North-Eastern Bulgaria from the districts of Varna, Dobrich, Shumen, Targovishte and Silistra took part in the regional educational forum “Innovations for leadership from school to life”. The event was hosted by Innovative Secondary School “Dimitar Talev” in partnership with RUO-Dobrich and the Municipality of Dobrich, reported the Ministry of Education and Science (MES).
Pupils and teachers from the districts of Varna, Dobrich, Shumen, Targovishte and Silistra presented good practices.
Emphasis was also placed on the formation of leadership skills in young people.
The participants attended a performance prepared in optional form “Drama and civic education”, added the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Financial literacy lessons were presented; use of artificial intelligence in training; project-based learning on environmental topics. The interdisciplinary approach to STEM teaching and the design of this type of lessons was presented; digital local knowledge, etc. A large part of the presented innovations involve the use of digital technologies to change the educational process.
The model “Integrated thematic learning by involving students in complex activities” is applied in the host school. Different subjects are included in the training and students are given the opportunity to be in an active position. Interactive resources are used and the stereotype of the classroom is broken. teaching system. Teachers conduct interdisciplinary lessons. Among them are “Cosmic Journey”, which includes Bulgarian language, mathematics and the person and the society for the fourth grade; “Ice Kingdom” – Bulgarian language, mathematics, national studies, music and visual arts in the first grade, as well as a binary lesson in biology and health education, and English, in the ninth grade.
The forum is held within the framework of the National Program “Innovations in Action”. Teachers comment that this program gives teachers and students the opportunity to be creative, as well as that the number of those wishing to participate is increasing, the MES notes.
