No violence was shown to the 104-year-old patient in the Vidin hospital. In view of age, the skin is more sensitive, the blood vessels are more fragile, and when applying abacates, these blue spots are observed. This was said by the director of the Multispecialty Hospital for Active Treatment “St. Petka” Dr. Iveta Naydenova, quoted by BTA.
District Prosecutor’s Office-Vidin self-reported on social media posts and national media alleging that a 104-year-old woman was admitted to a hospital in the city, where she was tied up and denied food and water.
According to her, the patient was fed and given water. One of her arms was fixed because of the systems. There was another patient in the room.
The elderly woman was admitted on a scheduled basis, and on the first day there really were no places in the department, added Dr. Naydenova. That is why the patient was admitted the next day, and a companion was offered to stay, the director of the hospital explained.
In a message to the media, the Executive Agency “Medical Supervision” informs that the executive director Ivanka Dineva has appointed an extraordinary inspection in the Vidin hospital. It starts today – April 23, and the Minister of Health and the public will be informed of the results of the inspection after its completion, the agency states.
