“Step by step” is a mentoring program of “Esetere Bulgaria” EOOD, whose mission and purpose is to support children and youth deprived of parental care and housed in family-type centers in the city of Dobrich. The team helps children develop as individuals who have the skills and qualities to face the challenges of life after reaching adulthood. The activities of the program are daily and very varied – camps, excursions, visits to cultural and sports events, celebration of national holidays, learning, sports, games, workshops, cooking, fishing and many other activities. For the past 5 years, the program has covered over 70 children and young people. The program team consists of three coordinators and seven volunteers.
The purpose of this meeting is to unite the efforts of businesses and help young people from family-type accommodation centers to find their way professionally, said Plamen Nikolov – General Director of Esetere Bulgaria for Dobruja media group. The idea of today’s meeting was to expand the program and provide it with a future that would allow more partners to step in, explained Plamen Nikolov.
We think that the business responded to our invitation and that the right partners came, shared the coordinator of the program Alexandrina Ilieva. Business representatives can be mentors in the professional guidance and realization of children, and today we have taken the first step to make this happen, she explained. The next step is visits of the young people to the companies in order to familiarize themselves with the various professions.
