PGIU “Elias Canetti” celebrated 141 years since its establishment with a festive concert

At an official ceremony at the Kanev Center Rousse Professional School of Economics and Management “Elias Canetti” celebrated 141 years since its creation. The event also paid tribute to the patron of the educational institution – the Nobel laureate Elias Canetti, as this year marks the 119th anniversary of his birth.

Official guests of the celebration were the Deputy Mayor of Ruse Municipality Encho Enchev, the Chief Secretary of the Regional Administration Irena Todorova, His Eminence Bishop Makarij of Glavinitsa, Vicar of Ruse Metropolitan His Eminence Naum, Executive Director of the Ruse Chamber of Commerce and Industry Milen Dobrev, Deputy the rector for international cooperation of the University of Ruse, Assoc. Dr. Galina Ivanova.

“I want to thank the teachers who work at the Professional High School of Economics and Management for the fact that, by embedding their shadow in the foundations of the educational institution, they contribute to an exceptional degree that its graduates are one of the most sought-after personnel and specialists by employers in our city”, said Deputy Mayor Encho Enchev in his welcoming speech. He presented the director of the school, Mariana Garkova, with an honorary plaque of the Municipality of Ruse.

The festive program of the commemoration included music and dance performances by high school graduates, as well as theatrical miniatures recreating the school atmosphere.

At the end of the festive event, the “Student of the Graduation” award was presented to Michaela Stoyanova, a twelfth-grader from the “Economics and Management” specialty.

Earlier in the day, the management of the high school organized a number of events to celebrate its patron saint. From 9:30 a.m., the doors of the educational institution were opened to visitors wishing to feel the atmosphere of the commercial school, and from 11 a.m. a literary reading was held in the “Culture” hall, at which the participants of the traditional literary competition were awarded by the thought of Elias Canetti – “Let’s keep the surprise”.

During the day, students from the high school also visited the home of the Nobel laureate and laid flowers in front of his monument on Canetti Square.
