The Staro Zagora club “Augusta 1992” hosted a shooting tournament in memory of Stoyan Penchev. “The tournament was according to the program of the Sports Ministry, “Children and the Sports Club – 2024”, Georgi Kocherenko, coach of “Augusta 1992” and organizer of the event, reported to Stara Zagora radio. 102 shooters from 9 Bulgarian clubs took part in the competition, which was with pneumatic and small-caliber weapons. The competition is part of the preparations for the upcoming European Championships in the spring and the World Championships in the autumn. From “Augusta 1992” medals were won by Monika Petrova, who came third among girls with a pneumatic pistol, also with a pneumatic weapon, Martin Stanchev was first pistol among the juniors, and Veselin Topchiev won gold in the rifle among the boys. With a small-caliber weapon, Maria Atanasova became the first at 25 meters with 562 points. “She strengthened the norm for the European Championship, but her opportunities are more than 15 points above this achievement,” commented Georgi Kocherenko. Monika Petrova improved her personal score and became third with 546 points. Among the juniors, Martin Stanchev finished third with 541 points.
