The creators of a new cultural project have set themselves the goal of bringing the charm of guitar sounds back to the park
A master class will be held for young guitarists, who will then perform a concert for residents of Veliko Tarnovo in front of the Summer Theater in the old capital.
The idea for the realization of the project “Tarnovo Guitars v 1.0”, co-financed with a little over BGN 2,300 from the cultural calendar of the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo, belongs to the Association “Youth for the Development of Lyaskovets” and is carried out jointly with the Youth Home in the old capital.
“The events of this project are completely free.
The idea is that this first part of the project will continue in the coming years as well,” shared the manager Krasin Karakotsev.
The aim is to develop the skills of young artists and performers in classical guitar, who will be given the opportunity to perform. At the same time, public interest in the beauty of guitar sounds will also be attracted in this way.
20 young people from 13 to 29 years of age will have the opportunity to participate in the master class of Prof. Dr. Stella Miteva-Dinkova. She leads one of the best ensembles with classical guitars “Akademika”, including more than 10 artists. Another famous guitarist, namely Kostadin Dinkov, will take part in the training. The master class will be held on May 11 and 12 in the building of the Youth Center, and so far 4 people have already signed up. The application is made entirely online at the project site vtguitars.weebly.com. Those interested must submit a short video of their performance by May 2. All participants in the master class will receive a certificate.
“The classical guitar is the queen of all guitars.
It is developing to this day. Here the development is more deficient and I hope with the participation of these two teachers we can strengthen it”, explained the guitar teacher at the Youth Home, Valentin Simeonov.
The master class will help with this, since on May 12, its participants will also perform a concert in the “Marno Pole” park. The event has been named by the organizers “With a guitar in the park” and will start at 18.00 in front of the Summer Theater. Other guitarists will be able to join in if desired. Classical works will be performed, as well as those that do not fall under the protection of copyright, which is kept for at least 70 years.
“We want it to be more informal, like we used to get together in the park and play guitars. The idea is to seek funding to continue the project, which will turn into a festival for at least the next decade.” This was shared by Nikolay Petrov from “Youth for Development of Lyaskovets”.
About 50 children in the municipality of Veliko Tarnovo play the guitar at the moment and are trained every week.
“There are many composers who are still writing pieces for classical guitar. There are also Bulgarians who do it. One of them is Rosen Balkandzhiev. The instrument itself is also developing, it is being made stronger so that it catches up with the piano and the violin as a force of sound,” Valentin Simeonov also shared.
