Political party (PP) “Middle European Class” (SEK) leaves the coalition “We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria” (PP-DB). This was stated in a position published on the party’s official website.
The party writes in the position that “with full responsibility to all voters and citizens, as well as to the future of the country” they have decided not to accept the invitation to continue their participation in the current coalition format for the upcoming elections and to leave the coalition with “We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria”. The SEC adds that their decisions to support the establishment of “Continuing the Change” in 2021 and to participate in the coalition (PP-DB) were justified by the conviction that it is important to work to achieve reforms and changes that are of essential importance for the future of Bulgaria and which should be in “counterbalance to the previous vicious model of GERB and DPS”.
According to “Middle European Class”, PP-DB’s decision “to join forces with GERB and DPS” has proved that in this way they cannot oppose “their vicious model”. “We believe that our values cannot be changed and joint work with this composition of GERB and DPS is impossible for us. Therefore, we cannot remain part of an alliance that allows working with corrupt representatives of political parties from GERB and DPS, which serve only the business circles, instead of serving the people and society,” the SEC stated.
The party informs about an upcoming meeting of the SEC, at which a decision should be made regarding the party’s participation in the upcoming early parliamentary elections and the elections for the European Parliament.
During the negotiations on the rotation, the “Middle European Class” announced that they do not support a government with a GERB-SDS mandate.
