Over 500 participants will visit Burgas for the ninth edition of the Bulgarian Geographical Festival

Over 500 participants, including schoolchildren, teachers, students, scientists and amateurs, are expected to be guests of Burgas in the ninth edition of the Bulgarian Geographical Festival. It will be held on April 27 and 28 at the International Congress Center, the Commercial High School, the Peyo K. Yavorov Regional Library and the Sea Garden, the press center of the administration in the seaside city reports.
In addition to popular scientific presentations by travelers and lectures by professors from the Faculty of Geology and Geography of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, the program also includes exhibitions, competitions for students, teachers and students, interactive and practical competitions, geography quiz for students, thematic stalls and other geography-related surprises.
The day before the start of the festival, documentary films by journalist and traveler Zhivko Konstantinov about Antarctica will be screened in the regional library, and later an exhibition will be opened with the presentation of a book about Mount Athos. Teachers Georgi Burdarov, Simeon Idakiev, Evgenia Sarafova and Dimitar Zhelev will present their lectures on the first day, and on the second – travelers Svilen Rusinov, Christian Kirilov and Lyubomir Popyordanov.
The final will be set by awarding the participants in the team competition “Geographyade”, which will be held during the two days at the commercial high school, and in parallel the Congress Center will host a student quiz. Organizers of the event, which in 2024 is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the creation of the “Geography” specialty at SU, are “Geographer BG”, Sofia University, Burgas Municipality and the Bulgarian Geographical Society.
