Sevda Asenova and Zlatislava Chukanova guaranteed two new medals for Bulgaria from the European Boxing Championship in Belgrade.

The two managed to qualify for the semi-finals in their categories and, after Jordan Morejon, in the men’s heaviest, they brought the second and third honors for our country from the championship of the Old Continent. In boxing, participation in a semi-final is equal to a minimum of a bronze medal.

In the lightest women’s category – the one up to 48 kilograms, Asenova did not leave a chance to the representative of Azerbaijan, Anakhanim Ismailova. The Bulgarian won with 5:0 votes and continues her way to a third European title.

In the semifinals on April 25, Asenova will box with the Serbian Kristina Varga.

Zlatislava Chukanova also achieved a 5:0 victory in the category up to 50 kilograms. In her first match of the championship, the Bulgarian played a very solid match against the Pole Natalia Kuchevska and completely convinced the judges that she deserved the victory.

For a place in the final, the Bulgarian will play against the Serbian Nina Radovanovic

By the end of today, four more Bulgarian women will attack the semi-finals in their categories in an attempt to bring four more medals.

The Bulgarian women’s national team was led at the European Championship by coaches Borislav Georgiev and Roman Tsvetkov.
