Founders of the Agricultural High School in Zavet are looking for classmates to attend the placing of an honorary plaque on the building

Representatives of the first graduating class of the Vocational High School of Agriculture “Kliment Timiryazev” are looking for their classmates to invite to the unveiling of an honorary marble plaque. This was announced by three of them at a meeting today with the Regional Governor Vladimir Dimitrov, who promised assistance both for the opening of their classmates and for the overall organization of placing the marble plaque. The initiative committee planned the event to take place on May 22, 2024, with the marble plaque inscribed “Appreciative Tribute from the Students of Iclass of 1958-1962″ will be opened with an official celebration. It starts at 10:00 a.m. in the courtyard of the high school. The date was chosen May 22, as it is the birthday of their patron – Kliment Arkadievich Timiryazev.

“We want to invite people who studied with us, but we lost contact for one reason or another, they may live in Razgrad or in the villages here. If they find out about our initiative, we will be happy for them to come to the event,” said Stoyanka Dimitrova, Kosyo Kosev and Atanas Atanasov – part of the initiative committee for placing the marble plaque. Vladimir Dimitrov congratulated them on the useful initiative and promised to attend the official opening. This year marks the 62nd anniversary of their graduation.

The high school of agriculture was established in 1958 as an educational institution with the status of a technical school, preparing personnel in the specialties – animal husbandry and plant husbandry. With the changes in the Law on Vocational Education, in the following years it was transformed into the SPTU of Agriculture, then into the Agricultural Technical College, and from 2003 the school was transformed into the Vocational High School of Agriculture.

“Many of our classmates and teachers are no longer with us, so we want to honor them as well,” the initiators said. “We didn’t even get to study in this building, the school didn’t have its own building yet when we started studying in it, but we personally participated in its construction,” they added. The plaque they will put up is part of their desire to preserve the memory for the future, as the school gave them a great start – 85% of the students in the first graduating class subsequently completed higher and semi-higher education and realized themselves professionally.
