Krum and Victoria – children from Pleven, Olympians at the world level in natural sciences

--

Krum Alexandrov – winner of a gold medal from the International Olympiad in Chemistry and a silver medal from the International Mendeleev Olympiad in Chemistry, and Victoria Ivanova – with a bronze medal from the International Olympiad in Biology, are two of the talented Pleven children presented in the exhibition opened in Pleven today. My alarm clocks’. The exposition is arranged in the lobby of the “Katya Popova” hall and shows the Bulgarian Olympians in natural sciences and their managers.

“We are both very happy that the exhibition is in our hometown. These are the important things, this is the good news,” Victoria told the audience. The quality that has helped her the most in overcoming the competition and winning the medal is persistence. “You just don’t give up – you have an ultimate goal, you move towards it and things work out,” said Vicky, who is currently a medical student at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.

“The quality most necessary, in my opinion, for a man to reach such heights in his development in science is perseverance. Without it, there is no way to accumulate the necessary knowledge to reach such an Olympiad and to achieve a good result. It takes persistence and years of work, but in the end, the effort pays off,” added Krum, who is a chemistry student, also at Sofia University.

The Deputy Mayor of Pleven Municipality Elina Dimitrova welcomed the students and teachers present and thanked them for their efforts. “Thank you for making us proud of you, for not giving up and moving forward, for spreading the glory of Pleven all over the world,” said Mrs. Dimitrova. She expressed confidence that even after the upcoming international Olympiads in natural sciences, there will be a strong Pleven performance.

The exhibition “My Alarm Clocks” is being realized for another year and aims to promote and support causes in the field of education and culture. The partner and beneficiary of the project is the Association of Olympic Teams in Natural Sciences (SOOPN), which supports the preparation of outstanding students for their participation in world tournaments.

The exhibition “My Alarm Clocks” will be visiting Pleven until May 7.
