Eng. Biserka Kamenova, on behalf of herself and the entire school community, thanked the municipal management and the project team for their support and efforts to realize the renovated, modern school building dreamed of for generations. “We highly value this gift and will work responsibly to preserve the spiritual atmosphere bequeathed by our ancestors 139 years ago and with new successes we will welcome the 140th anniversary of this temple of science and art,” added the director.
The project “Implementation of energy-saving measures to achieve a building with close to zero consumption in “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” – the city of Vidin” is implemented through the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021, under the Program “Renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy security”. The beneficiary is the Municipality of Vidin, and partners: Energy Agency – Plovdiv and NORCE Norwegian Research Center AS. The funds for the repair are in the amount of 2,856,455.50 BGN. With its successful completion, SU “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” was transformed from a conventional to a highly efficient building, in which a significant part of the energy is supplied by renewable sources. The introduction of energy-saving measures will reduce heat losses on the external enclosing structures. A photovoltaic installation was built to cover own needs and heat pump heating. The school is the first in Northwest Bulgaria with energy class A and close to zero energy consumption.
The opening of the renovated building ended with performances by the cheerleading squad and the “Danube Rainbow” vocal group of the school.
