Under the leadership of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lovech, an investigation into illegal trafficking of migrants is underway, the Appellate Prosecutor’s Office in Veliko Tarnovo announced.
On April 22 of this year, around 7:30 p.m., a Volkswagen Caddy car driven by a Bulgarian citizen with the initials D.I.S.V was stopped for inspection in Lukovit based on previously submitted information about the transportation of refugees. four foreign citizens from Iraq and Syria were found in the car. Among them were three minors. One of them is a legal resident, and the other three are currently not registered in the country. Their identity was removed from their data with the help of a translator.
Interrogations were held before a judge and the perpetrator was charged. He is detained for up to 72 hours. He is about to be asked to remand in custody.
The investigation into the case continues.
