The preparation of the upcoming 2 in 1 vote in June was discussed by the regional governor of Ruse, Danail Kovachev, with the leadership and members of the Regional Election Commission /RIC/. Kovachev pointed out that institutions must build trust among voters and motivate them to cast their vote, ensuring that it will be properly accounted for. He was categorical that the Regional Administration will pay attention to all complaints and reports, and that there will be a duty team of the institution during the election day.

“Citizens, in addition to voting, must report irregularities and complain about violations, and also actively participate in the monitoring of the election process and pre-election campaigning,” said Kovachev.

According to him, everything possible should be done to increase voter turnout. He assured the RIC representatives that the good practices in interaction and coordination between the two institutions will continue. Kovachev also stated that the Regional Administration will support the activities of the RIC in every way in order to ensure a transparent and fair vote. He also stated that regardless of the dynamic situation, he will demand to ensure calm both during the elections and to the students the next day during the national external assessment.

Later today, it is expected that the preliminary voter lists will be delivered to the District Administration. By the end of the week, they will be distributed among the eight municipalities of the region.
