The life-saving program for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and strokes FAST HEROES 112 will cover about 7 thousand children between the ages of 6 and 10 thanks to the initiative of the Municipality of Stara Zagora. The municipality and the Stara Zagora-Augusta Lions Club are the most important hosts and with their help the program will start, which will increase the children’s health culture, may save the citizens of Stara Zagora or help them to continue their lives with dignity without difficult consequences even after the stroke. This was announced by the national coordinator of FAST HEROES 112 Elitsa Hadjivalcheva, she presented the health education program in the municipal hall “P. R. Slaveikov”.
The fight to prevent these conditions, prevention and awareness are extremely valuable to us because we know that our actions here and now can save lives. Thus, the head of the “Education and Youth Activities” department, Stanimira Dimitrova, explained the motives of the Municipality of Stara Zagora to get involved in the implementation of the project. It has actually been a fact in Stara Zagora since last year, but until now it covered one school and one kindergarten, and now it will include the entire municipality and all educational institutions in it.
For the Stara Zagora-Augusta Lions Club, the prevention of diseases in children and adults has been a long-standing cause through the implementation of projects aimed at awareness, a healthy lifestyle and the organization of preventive examinations, Ms. Anastasia Gidikova summarized. It is important to teach children to take care of their health and encourage their parents to do so, she added.
The WHO’s alarming warning is that one in four will suffer a stroke in their lifetime. There is no person who can be reassured that he is outside the risk group. Last year in Bulgaria, stroke affected 45 thousand people, only two out of 10 people in our country recognize the symptoms of a stroke and only one is aware that the only correct way to act in an emergency situation is to call 112, summarized Elitsa Hadjivalcheva.
In front of directors and representatives of educational institutions in the “P. R. Slaveikov”, she presented the interactive program, oriented towards young children. It is not traumatic or frightening, it does not mention the word death. The program is an educational adventure for children, where the focus is on adults and the invaluable opportunity to spend longer and quality time with them, and children are the channel of information. It relies on their natural enthusiasm, on the desire to tell at home and in detail everything they have learned and to be carefully listened to by the adults in the family. At the end of the training, each child will receive a certificate that they were part of FAST HEROES 112.
The common humanitarian initiative is the Municipality of Stara Zagora, Lions Club Stara Zagora-Augusta, Lions New Voices and the Foundation “Heart to Heart for Bulgaria”.
