The working meeting at the Road Infrastructure Agency was attended by the Acting Chairman of the Management Board of the Road Infrastructure Agency Eng. Yordan Valchev, the Regional Governor of Plovdiv Dr. Eng. Iliya Zyumbilev, the Mayor of the Municipality of Plovdiv Kostadin Dimitrov, representatives of designers, experts, etc. It discussed the steps for the further implementation of the projects for the ring roads of the city of Plovdiv – Ring Road and the Southeast Bypass.

The project for the Detailed Development Plan – Parcel Plan for a new route (south-east of Plovdiv) along the direction of road II-56 – from the road junction “Skobeleva Maika” to the south to the constructed roundabout with “Asenovgradsko Shose” was discussed. It became clear from the meeting that the project has already been agreed by the National Railway Infrastructure Company and the Basin Directorate-Plovdiv and should be submitted to the Ministry of Education and Culture for an opinion, after which it will be presented to the National Expert Council on Territorial Planning for acceptance.

The project in the direction of road II-56 – from the “Skobeleva Maika” road interchange in the south to the constructed roundabout with “Asenovgradsko shosse” is in the most advanced phase of preparation for implementation and is expected to start in the fall.

The statutory environmental procedures before the Ministry of Environment and Water for the three separate positions are pending, after the completion of which the next phases of design will be developed – the actual technical projects and parcel plans. The plot plans, according to which the expropriation of the affected private properties will be carried out, are subject to approval by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works.

There are uncertainties regarding drainage canals and the KCM railway crossing the main line.

Road connections with the industrial zones around Plovdiv, other urbanized properties and arable agricultural lands were also discussed.

“The project must be divided into three parts. We have one part for which a contractor and financing have already been selected, and it is very important to start construction there as soon as possible. It is in this direction that our efforts are directed,” said the regional manager Iliya Zyumbilev.
