State Opera – Ruse will present the premiere of the ballet “Fire” to music by Dmitri Shostakovich. This will take place on June 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the “Opera” hall.

The ballet “Fire” is a direct provocation both to the Ruse audience and to all institutions and organizations on which the earliest possible restoration of the Ruse Opera stage after the fire in 2020 depends, directly or indirectly. That is why this production will be presented on the stage of the Ruse Opera House, even though it is still completely unsuitable for performances.

With the music of Dmitri Shostakovich from his symphonies and ballets – the composer who twice six decades ago triumphed on this very stage, the modern alternative ballet performance will show what “fires” burn in the human souls of those who have condemned themselves to the theater stage . The theater – as a scene that looked at life as if through a magnifying glass terrifying in its frankness, life – as a reproduced theatrical phenomenon and all this, consumed by the real fire of self-destruction, of war – everything comes to life on the suffering stage of the Ruse Opera House. Scene-history, scene-memory, scene-memory – about the passionate fires that burned its artists over the decades – the fires of love and jealousy, the fires of fame and envy, the fires of blind obedience and protest, the fires of workaholism and dedication. Fires that smolder or rage, fires that consume us, fires from whose ashes we invariably rise with the power of hope.
