The new Bulgarian thriller “Retrospect” with a national premiere in “Cinema City”

--

In Europe’s oldest city, Plovdiv, an old man who once spied on his neighbors for the secret police continues to do so more than 30 years later for fun. He is convinced that the Brit who lives across the street is responsible for the disappearance of a tourist. Everything gets even more complicated when the foreigner begins a relationship with his granddaughter. As he tries to uncover the truth, he also encounters a radical shift in culture, from one where people try to keep their private lives a secret to one where they share their every move publicly. Meanwhile, his controversial past is revealed.
This is the plot of the new Bulgarian thriller “Retrospect”, which is the first in Bulgaria by director Steven Louis Simpson.
“For the first time, someone is moving from Hollywood to make films in Bulgarian and with Bulgarian actors. And music scene star Kerana makes her film debut in one of the lead roles,” say the film’s producers.
The film will be screened as part of a national premiere at “Cinema City” in Rousse Mall and more than 50 other cinemas in the country from May 3. This will fulfill Steven Lewis Simpson’s express wish that it reach as many viewers as possible, “because it’s an exciting and funny story, with a brilliant cast.”
