Group “Postcard” is ready with its first album. “Stories” has original music by each of the musicians, and they will present it on stage in front of the Sofia audience on April 30 (Tuesday).
“Postcard is a metaphor that embodies the sincerity, the sharing, the craftsmanship found in the band’s music. It is an idea that brings together creative worldviews that are influenced by both the passion for traditional jazz and the different approaches to its modern reading. Music is inspired by the natural human need to create and share,” the musicians explain.
The main composition of the formation is Nedelcho Ninov – trombone, Vilizar Gichev – guitar, Ralitsa Toneva – alto saxophone, and Teodor Toshkov – drums. Most studied abroad, even started playing together in the Netherlands.
For the debut album, they invited their colleagues Arnau Garofe – tenor saxophone, and Hristo Minchev – double bass.
“Our sound is a jazz combo plus a brass section,” Vilizar Gichev told BNR-Radio Sofia. “We want to show our interpretation of modern jazz.”
After the live performance, in YouTube the videos of the 7 compositions with the themes, the improvisations will be uploaded, added Nedelcho Ninov.
The layout of the album, as you might guess, resembles a postcard.
