  • Valev is prolonging his treatment, but on a different path – probably for a broken finger
  • The “refugee hunter” faces up to 10 years in prison if it is proven that he blackmailed booksellers for thousands of euros

The prosecutor’s office entered one of the hospitals in Burgas to press charges against the patient, Mr. Valev, better known as Dinko, the “refugee hunter,” “24 Chasa” learned from its sources.

Valev is being investigated for leading an organized crime group (OCG) for extortion, the district prosecutor’s office in Yambol clarified and confirmed that they will no longer wait for him to leave the hospital to charge him.

According to “24 Hours”, after the clinical path that Dinko was initially admitted to has expired, he is already being treated by another, this time apparently for a broken finger.

With a blood clot and in serious condition, Mr. Valev was admitted to a hospital in Burgas

– such information was spread by Dinko himself on April 20, as soon as a rumor spread that he was being investigated for participation in the OPG for racketeering and that he would be arrested at any moment.

For the fifth day now, the hospital has not given any information – is the patient Valev there, what is he sick with and what is his condition. Every day since April 20, our reporter calls Dinko’s phone, he picks up, listens and says: “Have a nice day.” And closes.

The district prosecutor’s office in Yambol brought some clarity with an official announcement from April 22, in which they confirmed that Valev is being investigated for participation in the gang he led and that he is about to be brought in as a defendant, but when he is discharged from the hospital.

It also became clear that two of Valev’s entourage are already in custody

– Stoyko K. and Grigor G. They are in custody, imposed by the district court in Yambol.

According to investigators, the criminal group operated from October 2021 to April 16 of this year. A scheme was created to extort traffickers who crashed or suffered accidents on the road. This happened alongside Valev’s legal activity of repatriating heavy-duty vehicles.

People in the know reveal that Valev’s clients

initially agreed on certain amounts for the services,
then blackmailed for more money,

as it was a matter of 4-digit amounts in euros. In order to force them to pay more, members of the criminal group also used forceful methods, threatening the property, health, and even the lives of the victims.

The prosecutor’s office in Yambol received a report from a victim who was forced to give the gang a substantial sum. Regarding another victim, who was also extorted by Valev’s men, the deed remained unfinished, the indictment specifies.

Apart from being the leader of the organized crime group, for which the law provides from 3 to 10 years in prison,

Dinko will also be responsible for extortion

If he is found guilty, he can receive from 2 to 10 years in prison and a fine from 4,000 to 6,000 BGN. At its discretion, the court can order the confiscation of up to 1/2 of his property, say lawyers.

The case with the criminal group, for which Valev is being investigated, is not his first encounter with the police and prosecutor’s office, but it is the most serious to date. The name of Bozavia, as some call it Dinko, and he named his transport company after that, entered the crime chronicles again in August of this year.

Then Valev was accused of hooliganism and coercion, that in front of a hypermarket in Ravda, exposing a beggar who pretended to be crippled, pushed him, insulted him, and subsequently made him publicly apologize to the people.

Dinko’s actions were even captured in a special video shared on social networks, which clearly shows how

Valev pushes and knocks down the supposed invalid

Then the prosecutor’s office insisted on permanent arrest, but the district court in Nessebar did not honor the request and released Valev on BGN 5,000 bail.

He, on the other hand, repented and even offered to provide a job for the beggar. A month later, Valev had an accident on the road while trying to repatriate an overturned bullet near Devin. The jib of a crane broke and fell on Dinko.

He was taken by private helicopter to a Sofia hospital, where he was rescued and fully recovered. After this incident he claimed that

his life turned around and he would be a different person

– much better and attentive. He even announced that he will run for president in the next election.

“I am a big supporter of Krum’s laws. Whoever steals will be severely punished. Twice as many powers will be given to the police, because now they don’t have them and the criminals trample them,” Valev told Bulgaria Today.

And he adds: “I have much more sense than the current rulers. I will initiate a referendum on a presidential republic, I see no other way out.”

In 2016, Dinko captured a group of Syrian refugees who illegally crossed our border with Turkey. That’s why most people call him “the refugee hunter”.
