Today was the finale of the “Revita” project, during which several long-awaited events by the public of Haskovo took place, such as the renovation of the emblematic Renaissance buildings – the Shishman House and the Kirkovo School. The “Ethnography” hall in the Regional Museum is also being completed. The project was implemented by the Regional History Museum in Haskovo and the Alliance for Regional Development and Cooperation, in partnership with the Icelandic organization “North Consulting”. Financing is provided through the European Financial Mechanism.
As part of the project, several art workshops continue, where children from Haskovo learn to make dolls, weave on a loom and work with clay completely free of charge.
“Our project has ended, but with it a new page opens for the renovated spaces”, emphasized Milena Trendafilova, from “Alliance for Regional Cooperation and Development”.
Today, guests from Iceland, who are part of the Committee for Cultural Cooperation, created with the partners from the Bulgarian side, were present at the Kirk School.
In the event for the presentation of Bulgarian cultural traditions, the performers from the DTA “Yuzhnache” at the Youth Center, the People’s Orchestra at the Municipality of Haskovo, and graduates of the Music School in Plovdiv took part in the performance of the marimba.
Silvia Predova and Tatiana Foreva, leaders of two of the art workshops, demonstrated the specificity of theater in a box and working with clay to the guests.
The implementation of this project is of utmost importance, as it opened up two of Haskovo’s emblematic sites, which due to their condition were previously completely inaccessible to visitors and tourists. Through it we were able to give them a new life. In addition, we got the opportunity to distinguish them as more modern spaces, not only with museum value, but also as a place accessible to all kinds of artists, Dr. Vesselina Uzunova from the Regional History Museum pointed out the importance of the work.
