Car washes will make good money in the coming days.

The cause of the high levels of Saharan dust is a strong Mediterranean cyclone positioned over the Ionian Sea. It pushed a huge amount of Saharan dust into the atmosphere, and the surrounding winds accompanying the cyclone carried it towards the Balkans and Eastern Europe, Meteo Balkans reported.

In the satellite image, dusty regions are marked with black arrows; the bright cyclamen color indicates a high concentration in the air mass above the area.

In the next hours, the expected precipitation will be slightly colored and mixed with Saharan dust, but there is no cause for alarm.

Today we are expecting significant rains over Western and Southern Bulgaria.

The Meteo Balkans team has issued a map with severe weather warnings valid for Tuesday – April 23, 2024.

Yellow code:

We are issuing a code for heavy rain, and the expected total amount will be between 15-20 l/sq. m. No extreme events are expected! During the summer season, small hail is also possible.

Code Orange:

We issue this code for torrential or “heavy” rainfall. Precipitation in isolated places over the indicated areas will be significant in amounts. The expected rainfall can reach up to 25-40 l./sq.m.

Events: Over these areas will also be accompanied by increased thunderstorm activity, strong winds and small hail (also known as squall events). In the autumn season, it is also issued for “heavy” rainfall.
