The eco-minister cleaned up around Varna

The Minister of Environment and Water Eng. Petar Dimitrov, the director of the Basin Directorate “Black Sea Region” Eng. Yavor Dimitrov, experts from the Directorate, children, parents and volunteers from the Organization of Bulgarian Scouts joined the initiative to celebrate World Earth Day . Everyone together cleaned a part of the bank of the “Georgi Traikov” dam near the village of Asparuhovo, reported the Basin Directorate. Let’s build a better world in which children grow up as active and happy young people, engaged in the problems of nature and society and together for “Planet against plastic”, was the call of the initiative.

Like the first Varna24.bg announced on the occasion of April 22 – Earth Day – “Planets against plastics”, Basin Directorate “Black Sea Region” together with scout clubs “Vladislav Varnenchik” – Varna, “Kresliv Orel” – Shumen and “Hawks” – Shabla/Durankulak cleaned part of the bank of the “Georgi Traikov” dam to the village of Asparuhovo.

Every year on April 22, not just a big, but a truly global holiday is celebrated – International Earth Day – the day of our common cozy home.

The holiday was established at the 63rd session of the UN General Assembly in 2009 (Resolution No. A/RES/63/278, supported by more than 50 UN member states) and has been celebrated since 2010 on April 22.

The President of the 63rd session of the General Assembly, Miguel d’Escoto Brockman, said that the proclamation of this International Day in the resolution is a recognition that the Earth and its ecosystems are our home, provide life for humanity, as well as a reaffirmation of the commitments made at the Conference of the United Nations on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. Therefore, in order to achieve a fair balance between the economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generations, it is necessary to promote harmony with nature and planet Earth.
